Sermon Notes

Date of Sermon:    October 26, 2025

Title: A Marked Man

Main Idea:  The false teacher is marked for condemnation.

Primary Passage:  Galatians 5:7-12

Sermon Outline:
  • Whoever mixes works with grace is a marked threat to
    • Christ
      • Galatians 5:7-8 (ESV)
    • The Church
      • Galatians 5:9-10 (ESV)
    • The Cross
      • Galatians 5:11-12 (ESV)

  • For next week’s message: Read and reflect on Galatians 5:13-15.

Things to Consider: (Feel free to read Scripture passages that God brings to mind as you work through these questions)
  1. What about the sermon challenged, encouraged, or confused you? What, if anything, would you like further clarification on?
  2. What level of spiritual situational awareness would you say you default to and why?
    1. White: Tuned Out - Unaware and not alert.
    2. Yellow: Relaxed Awareness - Relaxed but aware.
    3. Orange: Focused Awareness - Specific threat identified.
    4. Red: High Alert - Confronting the threat.
  3. What are the dangers inherent to defaulting to each of the levels? (e.g. Defaulting to Red may lead to hyper-sensitivity to the slightest disagreement)
  4. How attuned are you to the Holy Spirit’s leading when it comes to recognizing potential false teaching on essential Christian doctrines?
  5. What is one way you can grow in being spiritually situationally aware without becoming hyper-vigilant?
  6. If you came across a friend who shares a possible false teaching, how might you approach it with him or her? What about if it was an elder or pastor?

As always, feel free to contact Charles if you have questions or concerns regarding the message; its content, meaning, or application to your life. The easiest way to do that is by submitting a Bridge Card at steamboatbiblechurch.com/bridgecard.
