Title: "Because I Said So" Isn't Enough

​Main Idea:  The parent and child relationship is to represent to the world God’s relationship with His children.

• Out of reverence for Christ, 
  • Children are to honorably obey their parents,
    • Ephesians 6:1-3 (ESV)
  • While parents are to instructively lead their children.
    • Ephesians 6:1-4 (ESV)

1. What about the sermon challenged, encouraged, or confused you? What, if anything, would you like further clarification on?
2. What is the difference between honorably obeying one’s parents versus dishonorably obeying them?
3. In what ways did you honorably obey your parents and in what ways did you not?
4. What do you think made the difference in whether you did or did not honorably obey them?
5. Describe the manner and level in which you honorably obey your heavenly Father.
6. In what way(s) would you like to improve and how might that happen?
7. What is the difference between a parent instructively leading their children versus non-instructively leading them?
8. In what ways could your parents have done better at instructively leading you as a child or young adult?
9. How do you think a healthy parent-child relationship changes as the children become adults?
10. What might you do to help your relationship with your heavenly Father become more healthy?
