Title: Fitted to Soar

Main Idea:  The only thing that merits God’s favor is our faith in Christ.

Primary Passage:  Galatians 6:11-18

Sermon Outline:
  • We can confidently make a good showing before God and thereby receive His peace and mercy…
    • Galatians 6:16 (ESV)
    • Romans 14:10c-12 (ESV)
  • By boasting
    • Not in our works of any kind, but
      • Galatians 6:11-13 (ESV)
    • Only in the finished work of Christ on the cross to make us new creatures in Him.
      • Galatians 6:14-18 (ESV)
      • Jeremiah 9:23-25 (ESV)

Things to Consider: (Feel free to read Scripture passages that God brings to mind as you work through these questions)
  1. What about the sermon challenged, encouraged, or confused you? What, if anything, would you like further clarification on?
  2. Read Romans 14:10-12. We will be called on Judgment Day to speak before God and “boast” in something, in order to make our case for justification before Him. Our choice of words will determine our eternal destiny. Imagine yourself before God on that day. What will be your choice of words?
  3. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being cowardly sheepish and 10 being boldly lionish), how confident are you in those words at this point in your life and why?
  4. How does your level of confidence, as noted above, positively or negatively manifest in how you live your life?
  5. How has this series on Galatians impacted your understanding of grace and how it applies to your life? What impact has it had on your level of intimacy with God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)?
