Title: Grow

Main Idea:  Grow in Christlikeness by being equipped to walk and serve in God’s transforming grace.

Primary Passage:  Titus 2:11-14

Sermon Outline:
  • A disciple is transformed by God's grace.
    • Luke 2:40,52 (BSB)
    • John 1:14-18 (ESV)
    • Titus 2:11-13 (ESV)
  • Main Idea: Grow in Christlikeness by being equipped to walk and serve in God’s transforming grace.
    • Titus 2:14 (ESV)
    • Acts 2:42-47 (ESV)

  • For next week’s message: Read and reflect on 1 Corinthians 12:4-13.

Things to Consider: (Feel free to read Scripture passages that God brings to mind as you work through these questions)
  1. What about the sermon challenged, encouraged, or confused you? What, if anything, would you like further clarification on?
  2. How hard is it for you to accept that transformation is passive on your part rather than active? What made you answer as you did?
  3. Does passive transformation mean that disciples don’t do anything to receive transformation? Explain your answer.
  4. What actions do disciples take in order to continue receiving God’s transformation by grace?
  5. What is the value of being equipped, if a disciple is transformed passively by God’s grace rather than his/her own efforts?
  6. What causes burnout among Christians who serve in the church and how can it be mitigated?
  7. How might a disciple of Jesus know whether they are walking and serving in the flesh rather than in God’s transforming grace, and how might he/she correct course?
