"I Can't - God Can"Sermon Notes |
Speaker: Jess Mahon
Date of Sermon: May 18, 2025 Bible Reading: Hosea 11 Message: We really try don’t we? We want to have a full stride in our walk with God. We desire integrity and intimacy. Right? Or, if we are completely honest, we often put ourselves into a place where we allow a substitute god to drip feed our egos, while starving our souls. Author John Ortberg describes it this way: “When my will is consistently, freely, joyfully aligned with what I most deeply value, my soul finds rest. That is wholeness. When I live with half-hearted devotion, my soul is always strained.” Hosea 11 lists six poetic connectors, which were prescriptive for Israel to have well-nourished souls...with the applications extending to us on this side of the Cross. WHEN...(1-2) YET... (3-7) HOW... (8-9) WILL... (9, 11b) SHALL... (10-11) BUT... (12) Big Idea: “I can't — God can — I think I’ll let Him." |
