CHARLES BAUERpastorCharles grew up in Kearney, Nebraska and went to Taylor University in Upland, IN for his BA degree in Psychology and Christian Education. After graduating, Charles moved to Denver, CO in 1987 and worked for two years as a counselor at a Residential Child Care Facility. He then went to Denver Seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1994. While there he met and married his wife, Kristen. They married in 1992 and have five adult children.
Charles spent 15 years in small town and small church ministry in Colorado and Nebraska, before taking 14 years off from ministry to receive healing from the Lord from childhood trauma and ensuing struggles. During this time, Charles worked in the IT field in the corporate headquarters of a nationwide clothing retailer. His wife, Kristen, graciously stayed beside him during this "Extreme Faith Makeover" through some very rocky years. God faithfully administered grace and healing to Charles and their marriage and called them back into ministry. Charles then spent over four years as the Discipleship and Global Outreach Pastor of a vibrant church in his hometown, before the Bauers were called back to their roots of small town, small church ministry, right here at Steamboat Bible Church.
