Sermon Outline:

• Joshua 2 is a conflictual text. God uses the deceptive words of a prostitute to be part of  accomplishing His mission to get the children of Israel into the Promised Land. How is it  that the lies from a known harlot would be instrumental in God’s sovereign plan? If you  are like me, you are asking: “Really?…” But hold on, there is more to the story than  meets the proverbial eye. 
• There are five transitions in this narrative, which together, tell the whole story:

    • Demand (2) 
  • The Duplicity (4-7). 
    • Truth (4a). 
    • Lies (4b-7). 
  • The Revealing (8-11). 
    • Knowledge (8-9).

  • The Request (12-14). 
    • Promise (12-13). 
    • Reply (14). 
  • The Closing (15-24). 
    • Instruction (15-16). 
    • Warning (17-21). 
    • Report (22-24).
