Sermon Notes

Date of Sermon:    April 27, 2025

Main Idea:  Since the Kingdom of God has been inaugurated, His will is being done on earth, as in heaven, through the faithful actions of us, the Body of Christ.

Key Verse:  “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations....." Matthew 28: 19a (ESV)

Bible Reading:   Matthew 28:16-20 (ESV) - 16Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

For next week’s message: Read and reflect on Philippians 2:5-11.

Things to Consider:

1. Did the message motivate you to join the mission in some way and, if so, how?
2. If you are motivated, from what source, internally, is that motivation stemming? Is it out of a sense of guilt or obligation? Is it out of love for God and others? Be honest with yourself and God about why you are being stirred to action.
3. Read through Galatians 5:22-23. Is the motivation you feel laced with the fruit of the Spirit. If not, why do you suppose? What practical steps can you take with God’s help to nurture a greater sense of devotion to Him out of love for Him and others rather than guilt or obligation?
4. One suggestion would be to write out 20-30 things for which you are thankful and express your gratitude for His goodness to you. Remembering God’s goodness and blessings is one of the best ways to nurture love for Him, because in doing so you allow Him to remind you how much He loves you.
5. Commit to Him that you will seek to be sensitive and obedient in the coming week to His leading and will trust Him to provide the love and wisdom you need to love the one in front of you.
6. Is there somewhere within the ministry of the church that you sense God calling you to step down from, get involved in, or transition to?
